ID'd Civil War Vet Samuel Axtell Kitch 7th Illinois Cavalry 1/4 Daguerreotype black and white The tintype is approximately 3Quarter plate daguerreotype of Samuel Axtell Kitch (1834 1903), who fought in the Civil War as lieutenant in the 7th Illinois Cavalry. His brothers also served; his brother Ira was wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania and died in Fredericksburg. He's identified inside of the case in period pencil: Mr. S. A. Kitchhis likenessDag is in excellent condition with original seals intact. Full leather case, a design which I think is considered rare. The case
